Freshly painted house exterior with flowering hydrangeas

Built for a wet coast

Long, rainy winters and damp air are hard on a home's exterior. Shaded walls, north-facing sides and trim collect moss and mildew, and moisture finds any gap in old paint or caulking. A good exterior job is mostly about what happens before the first coat.

  • Inspect. We look over siding, trim, caulking and problem spots, and tell you what we find.
  • Clean and treat. Dirt, moss and mildew are cleaned and treated so the coating can bond.
  • Repair and prep. Loose paint is removed, gaps are caulked and bare spots are primed.
  • Protective coats. Paint is applied in suitable weather for a durable, even finish.
  • Final check. We walk the finished home with you and make anything right that is not.

Deck and stair refinishing

Weathered decks and steps can look tired and become unsafe when the surface breaks down. We clean, prep and refinish so the wood is protected for the next season. The photos show a set of weathered steps before the work, and a refinished deck afterwards.

FAQ

Exterior painting questions, answered

When is the best time to paint a house exterior in Richmond?

Exterior paint needs dry surfaces and a dry, mild stretch of weather, so spring through early fall is the best window on the coast. Good dry days are limited, which is why we suggest booking early. We schedule around the forecast.

How do you deal with moss and mildew?

We clean and treat moss and mildew before painting, especially on shaded and north-facing walls and trim. Painting over growth does not work because it keeps coming through, so cleaning and prep come first.

What surfaces can you paint?

Siding, stucco, brick and trim are the most common. We also paint doors, railings and fascia, and we stain and refinish decks and stairs.

Do you prep and repair before painting?

Yes. Loose and peeling paint is removed, gaps are caulked, bare spots are primed, and minor repairs are made so the new coating bonds properly. Larger repairs, like rotted wood, are noted in your written quote.

Can you refinish my deck?

Yes. We have refinished and stained decks and steps across the Lower Mainland. The right approach depends on the wood and its condition, which we check at your free estimate.

Do you help with colour choice?

Yes. We offer expert colour consultation for siding, trim and doors, and we help you coordinate colours with your roof, stonework and landscaping.

Is it safe to scrape and sand an older home?

Homes built before the 1990s can have older paint layers that contain lead. We advise testing before any sanding or scraping, so the work is done safely.

How do I get a quote?

Call us or send the form below. We reply within 24 hours, visit to assess your home, and give you a written quote with the price confirmed before work starts.
