White painted built-in cabinets and shelving with a smooth, even finish

What you get with every cabinet paint job

Cabinet paint takes a beating from hands, steam and daily cleaning, so the finish is only as good as the prep underneath it. This is how we work on every set of cabinets.

  • Deep clean first. Kitchen cabinets collect grease and cooking residue that stops paint from sticking, so every surface is degreased before any sanding.
  • Doors, drawers and hardware handled with care. Doors and drawer fronts are removed and labelled so they go back where they came from. We can fit new pulls and hinges that you supply.
  • Sand, fill and prime. Dings, worn edges and old hardware holes are filled and sanded smooth, then a bonding primer gives the new finish something to grip.
  • Durable cabinet finish. Two coats of hard-wearing cabinet-grade enamel for an even, smooth look that wipes clean.
  • Your home protected. Floors, counters and nearby surfaces are masked and covered, and we clean up when the job is done.

Paint or replace? An honest answer

If your cabinet boxes are solid and you like the layout, painting is the simplest way to change the look of the room without the mess and cost of a tear-out. If boxes are swollen from water damage or the doors are coming apart, replacing may be the better call. We will tell you which one we think fits when we look at the job.

Choosing a colour and sheen

Test a sample on a cabinet door and check it in morning, afternoon and evening light before you commit. Satin and semi-gloss finishes wipe clean more easily than flat paint. Our guide to which sheen goes where is a good place to start.

FAQ

Cabinet painting questions, answered

How much does cabinet painting cost in Richmond?

It depends on the number of doors, drawers and cabinet boxes, the condition of the existing finish and whether you are changing colour. We give you a written quote after we understand the job, so you know the price before we start.

How long does it take to paint cabinets?

It depends on the size of the kitchen and how much prep the cabinets need. Most jobs take several days, and the finish keeps hardening after it feels dry. Your written quote includes a timeline.

Can you paint my cabinets any colour?

Yes. Most colour changes are possible. Going from a dark colour to white takes more primer and coats, and we price that in your quote.

Will the paint chip or peel?

Prep is what prevents it: degreasing, sanding and a bonding primer. No painted cabinet is immune to hard knocks, but a properly prepped finish holds up well to daily use, and our labour is covered by a 1-year warranty.

Do I need to empty my cabinets?

Yes, please empty cabinets and drawers before we arrive. We remove the doors, drawer fronts and hardware, so a clear working area helps the job go quickly.

Can you install new cabinet hardware?

We can fit new pulls and hinges that you supply. Mention it when you request your quote so we can include it.

Do you paint cabinets in my city?

We serve Burnaby, Delta, Ladner, North Vancouver, Richmond, Surrey, Tsawwassen, Vancouver, West Vancouver and White Rock. If you are not sure whether we cover your street, call us or send a quote request and we will let you know.
