5 Signs It's Time to Call a Pro Instead of DIY
DIY painting is rewarding, but some jobs are better left to professionals. Here's how to tell.
- High ceilings, stairwells, or exteriors. Working on tall ladders is one of the most common ways people get hurt at home. Pros have the right equipment and experience.
- Water stains or peeling that keeps coming back. That usually means a hidden problem, like a leak or moisture issue. Painting over it won't fix it.
- Your home was built before 1978. Old paint may contain lead. Scraping or sanding it without proper precautions can be dangerous.
- Damaged walls. Large holes, cracks, or water damage need repairs before painting.
- You're short on time. A room that takes a pro crew one day could take you a few weekends. Sometimes your time is worth more.
Bottom line: DIY is great for small, simple rooms. When the job involves height, hidden damage, or safety risks, call in help.
